We must be honest to say that Eutychianism, itself a mess of errors for certain, was a reaction to Nestorianism. But its idea or claim that the humanity of Christ was absorbed by the divinity, and thus making but a man-God rather than a God-man. Chalcedon’s “communication of idioms,” we have the correct exchange of the properties of each nature, the divine and the human. It seems in the modern, which we won’t quote here, there is room for some kind of rapprochement, with their ‘one Nature out of two’ (Divine and Human) for the Incarnate Christ. And it must in all honesty be stated that the better Monophysites always remained opposed to Eutyches. We should note also that there was some kind agreement on Christology with Pope John Paul II and the Syrian Orthodox Patriarch Ignatius Zakka II in 1984.
