The ‘Risen’ Movie – An Unbeliever Confronts The Empty Tomb.

February 22, 2016

*Of course the first real “Unbeliever” to see the Risen Christ and Jewish Messiah was Saul (later called Paul), a “Jew of Tarsus” (Acts 21: 39 ; see too Acts chapter 9: 1-30). There were also Gentile people who had become Jews, as Cornelius, who also later became Christians, (Acts 10). But Saul/Paul was first real Unbeliever, who after seeing the Risen Christ became the Apostle to the Gentiles, (Romans 11: 13).

This movie is based on myth!  For the most part the Romans did not take seriously the Resurrection of Jesus.  Note, Matthew 28: 11-15. And the only Roman centurion who appeared to be moved by Christ, was the one at the crucifixion, Luke 23: 47. Who later according to tradition became a believer.

It seems true to note, that for the most part only the Apostles and some early disciples saw the Risen Christ, (1 Cor. 15: 6). This was of course one of St. Paul’s huge boasts, seeing the Risen Christ, and being called to the Apostleship!  (1 Cor. 15: 1-10, etc.)  Now for us, John 20: 29 comes into reality…”be not faithless but believing.” (looking back to verse 27), as we too can say: ‘My Lord and my God.” (verse 28)
