Good Friday, 2016

March 25, 2016

‘Remember, O Jesus, the vinegar and the gall, that bitter cup which Thou didst taste for the ungodly; and let the bitterness which was Thy portion be to us a cause of perpetual sweetness.’ (A Passion-tide prayer)

Almighty God, we beseech thee graciously to behold this thy family, for which our Lord Jesus Christ was contented to be betrayed, and given up into the hands of wicked men, and to suffer death upon the Cross. Who now liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost ever, one God, world without end. – Anglican Collect Good Friday (BCP)

*This is no question of a mere moral Death, but the great plan and eternal purpose of God seen and done in human time. THE Great and Perfect Satisfaction of God!
