The Great Rapture Debate

May 10, 2016

The truth of the Rapture, or “catching-away” is Biblical beyond doubt!  And 2 Thess. 2: 1 exegetically surely appears to be Post-Trib also?  But, we must allow for the “timing” of the Rapture to some degree, but too we simply cannot damage biblical grammar, either!  But to my mind the Text of 1 Thess. 4: 15-16 does NOT allow for any stop when our Lord’s descends from the sidereal heavens to the earth, the Rapture happens at this time, as verse 17… “to meet the Lord in the air” (quite visible, as verse 16). But the Lord continues to the earth, with His Church and People!  Though for sure the New Jerusalem hovers over the old, or earthly at the First Resurrection, and into the Millennial Kingdom, Rev.19-20-21, and then into the eternal state, Rev. 22. Of course I see the Book of Revelation as futuristic, (Rev. 1: 19).

  1. As I have written elsewhere, I am Historic Premill, with a certain dispensational scheme, though too somewhat with the PD or Progressive Dispensational. We simply cannot escape something of the dispensational reality, 1 Cor. 10: 32! (1) the Jews – God’s chosen people; (2) the Greeks, or the unbelieving Gentiles, and (3) the church – a composition of believing Jews & Gentiles: believers ‘In Christ’. We should NOT be an offense, a stumbling block, to any of these three categories. At least overtly so! As Paul says: “that they may be saved”! (Verse 33)

  2. Btw we should note too, that in the Resurrected Church, there is NO time per se, but full Redemption (at the Rapture)…(The Bema-Seat of Believers ; The Marriage of the Lamb and His Marriage Dinner.)
