The Son Tay Raid Vietnam, 1970.

This raid was overall successful from a military standpoint, but it was supposed to a POW rescue mission, but the POW’s had been moved. So the question of intelligence and reconnaissance seemed to be a failure. But then too, the raid on Son Tay was only about 30 miles from Hanoi deeply in North Vietnam, so intell and recon were not easy. And again militarily it was a good day for the U.S. Special Operations Forces, Special Forces, i.e. Green Berets, the American Navy and all the Aircraft (USAF also) involved! Though it was NOT considered a mission by just the Army Special Forces, (Green Berets), or any other American military group, alone. Though the U.S. Marine Corps was not involved at all.
