The Incarnate Deity, Luther

June 11, 2017

Luther’s entire theology can be said to stand or fall with the divinity of Jesus Christ! ‘Nothing is more important to him than the Nicene homoousios.’ In Christ, he maintains, we are confronted by God Himself, for Christ is ‘very God’. ‘For Christ also is God’ ; ‘But Jesus is the true, the one, the only God’ ; (W.A. Luther). Thus Luther was after the biblical Christ and revelation, and not a mere historical Jesus, so-called!  My own emphasis here! (Fr. R.)

Ecce Homo  -“Behold The Man”  (John 19: 5)… The Incarnate Deity!  We can only really worship from divine revelation.
