Bernard of Clairvaux on The Love of God

June 29, 2017

“That very Son says of Himself, “Greater love than this no one has, that he lay down his life for his friends” (John 15: 13). Thus has the Just deserved from the ungodly, the Greatest from the least, the All-powerful from the weak.” – Bernard of Clairvaux

*St. Paul writes: “He spared not even His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all.” – Romans 8: 32. And Paul also wrote: “For through the Law I died to the Law, so that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ: and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” (Gal. 2: 19-20)

Again, Law and Gospel, through the Person of God In Christ!
