Biblical Eschatology

July 9, 2017

The question of Biblical Eschatology has come up, i.e. the definition. So here goes, in reality Eschatology is the doctrine and study of the death, resurrection, judgment and thus the Second Coming of Jesus Christ!  And theologically this has come to be called the doctrine of Last Things. Jesus Christ Himself began this biblical teaching and reality as the writer of Hebrews stated in Hebrews 1: 2!  The Jews understood the “last days” to mean the time when Messiah/Christ would come, and the fulfillment of the messianic prophecies commenced with the advent of the Messiah: Jesus/Yeshua, i.e. Jesus of Nazareth, and will end with the Second-Coming-Advent of the Lordship of Jesus Christ! Hebrews 9: 23-28!  It was the ministry of Saul-Paul to unfold the biblical revelation fully of all this, “to the Jew first, and also to the Greek/Gentiles.” (Rom. 1: 16) See too the Parenthetic of Romans chapters 9 thru 11 for this (Rom. 11: 13-36, noting especially verses 27-29, etc.)

*This is quick, and but the beginning of this great Eschatological reality of the Old and N.T. Covenants, i.e. ‘In Christ’ as St. Paul loves to say!

And Modern and National Israel will surely be central here at and during the Second Coming of Christ/Day Of The Lord!  (Matt. 23: 39 / With Zech. 14 – Rev. 1: 7)

  1. Btw, of course the Resurrection of Christ includes His Ascension! For Paul the Ascended “Christ Jesus” is Everything!
